Ben Eberle: Woodblocks for Wood Fire
Fabulous workshop with Ben Eberle in preparation for our soda firing weekend this November! His handles may take 30 minutes but boy are they beautiful.
Katie Bosley Sabin: Symmetrical Precision
So amazing to see the sketching, planning, and patience that goes into Katie Bosley Sabin’s intricate, precise work. Her stunning pieces and process made for a super-inspiring workshop!
Martha Grover: Thrown + Altered
Martha Grover made it look easy this weekend! What a joy to watch her throw and alter with such fluidity and grace. Our students made some stellar Martha-inspired pourers.
Stuart Gair: Advanced Throwing
TCS students were lucky enough to have one last hands on workshop with Stuart Gair before he sailed off to the Archie Bray. We loved having him as a teacher for this last year and we can’t wait to see where he goes next.
Julia Galloway at TCS!
So much wisdom, so little time. We’re still absorbing everything Julia taught us this weekend. Everyone at The Clay School agrees that we are so lucky that Julia was Kirsten’s mentor in grad school!
Time to trim the 25lb platter.
But once you throw a 25lb platter, you have to trim it somehow…and it’s too big for your bats! So you use drywall and a wheel that’s up on cinder blocks.
Can you throw a whole bag of clay at once?
Why yes, yes you can! Here’s our studio owner, Kirsten Bassion, teaching her Tuesday morning advanced students to do just that!
“The Clay School is considered by many as the best Ceramics Studio in the Boston area.”
