Minus 19 degrees outside! But it’s hot in here for the much-anticipated Hayne Bayless workshop. We are all going home with the tips and tricks to make our own tools and fabulous patterns.

Our first TCS field trip was fiery! 20 of us headed out to Shelburne Falls, MA for part two of our soda firing workshop with Ben Eberle.

The pandemic won’t keep us down! We pivoted to online classes, and now we’ve tackled an online workshop to help our students learn to sell their gorgeous works!

Martha Grover made it look easy this weekend! What a joy to watch her throw and alter with such fluidity and grace. Our students made some stellar Martha-inspired pourers.

TCS students were lucky enough to have one last hands on workshop with Stuart Gair before he sailed off to the Archie Bray. We loved having him as a teacher for this last year and we can’t wait to see where he goes next.

Arthur Halvorsen’s tissue transfers were a hit! There’s nothing quite as fun and whimsical as Arthur’s surfaces, and we’re thrilled he spent the day sharing them with us!

TCS teacher Erica Hood and her partner Owen Roberts taught us all to sculpt animals this weekend. Is there anything more fun?

So much wisdom, so little time. We’re still absorbing everything Julia taught us this weekend. Everyone at The Clay School agrees that we are so lucky that Julia was Kirsten’s mentor in grad school!

Our Meredith Host workshop was fabulous! From paper stenciling and screen-printing with underglaze to underglaze tissue transfers and mishima, Meredith covered it all with amazing tips, tricks, and so much humor. Can’t wait to have her back!

We had a blast hosting Nicole, learning to make one-part slipcasting molds, and trying out her signature mishima inlay technique.
